UCLA had played Houston earlier in the season in what was dubbed the 'Game of the Century'. Lew Alcindor, now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, was playing injured in that game and UCLA lost by 2 pts. With Alcindor healthy, UCLA crushed Houston in the Final Four, beating them by 32 pts.
