In one of the greatest moments in sports history, Team USA knocked off the four-time defending gold medalists from the Soviet Union. Al Michaels added one of the greatest calls to go along with it, as he exclaimed while time was expiring, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"

USA and Russia needed a sudden death shootout to decide a victor, and the game was put into TJ Oshie's hands. After Oshie scored two sudden death goals to keep USA alive, Jonathan Quick made a save that allowed Oshie the chance to win the game. On his sixth shootout attempt, Oshie got it by Bobrovsky and gave team USA the victory.

With a US team consisting mostly of amateurs, the four-time defending gold medalists from the Soviet Union were the heavy favorites to bring home the gold once again. Team USA shocked the world by upsetting the Soviets by a score of 4-3 in what is widely considered one of the greatest sports moments in history.

USA and Canada were tied one game a piece in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and needed a winner-take-all game to decide the champion. Canada held a 2-1 lead late into the third period, but USA managed to score four goals in the last 3:18 of the game to win 5-2. Tony Amonte put team USA on top 3-2 with a rebound goal with 2:35 left in the game.
