In Los Angeles's fourth trip to the MLS Cup Final they were determined to take home the cup. It took them two periods of extra time to do so, but they finally got their first championship. In the 113th minute Carlos Ru?z, Tyrone Marshall and Chris Albright mounted a counterattack. Albright struck a leading pass to Marshall who ran it down and sent a cross into the box. Ru?z one-touched the ball into the right of the net, giving Los Angeles their first championship.
